I think it was Cicero who used this technique a lot. But a number of them are well known for making good use of it during their speeches.

Re: 6 Secrets to Bolster Your Public Speaking

These are some great tips! I work with public speakers and they use many of these techniques. Although, this is the first I've heard about the Roman Room.

As a musician, I identified with your post immediately. I do believe we have lost something musically in this generation as far as finding a unique "sound" is concerned. And, in a way, we are to blame because we demand the dubstep by buying these remixes over and over again, not allowing the artists to come up with new stuff!

And thanks for your compliment! I've found your site to be very cerebral yet creative as well - thanks!

Re: Hitting the Creative Brick Wall

Thanks for featuring my blog! Whenever I have a written exam of any kind, especially where there are essay questions, I always brainstorm using a mindmap. It is absolutely indispensible.

In fact, you've given me a great idea for a series of posts! Different circumstances that mindmaps are useful in!

Re: Mindmaps : the Good (the Bad and the Ugly to follow)

Are these mind maps helpful during brainstorming sessions to generate ideas too? I've heard them suggested as such, but never tried it.

Re: Mindmaps : the Good (the Bad and the Ugly to follow)

Hi Ammon.

I'm totally with you on that. When they are done properly, mindmaps are incredibly useful. But they do need to be done correctly, and consistently. See my next post and see what you think about doing them wrong!

Doing them consistently requires self-discipline. Man, do I struggle with that!! But consistency is important when studying. As someone once said "Keep on keeping on!"

Re: Mindmaps : the Good (the Bad and the Ugly to follow)

I find mindmaps to be very visually stimulating. I just wish I was better (i.e.: more consistent) at using them.

Re: How I conquered Russia

Thanks, Shane!
